Reflections of the Stars
I hear a star said to another star: “We are adrift on a sea with no shore.
We were created with a wander lust: Our caravan will not stop any more.
“If we still are what we were long ago, Then what use is this shining on and on?
We are all of us captives in Time’s net. Lucky are they who have not yet been born.
“No one can bear this heavy load for long. Far better were it never to have been.
I do not like this azure space at all; That nether world presents a fairer scene.
“How happy is man with his restless soul, So gaily riding on the steed of Time.
Life is a garment tailor made for him, Because he is a maker of new things.”
